About Liam Kelly

The late Liam Kelly was one of the founder members of The Garden of Ireland Vintage Car Club which was formed, along with others, in 2009. Liam and his fellow club members travelled the length and breath of the country and further a field to Vintage and Classic Car Shows and made many friends along that journey. The Club went from strength to strength during its first five years in existence with Liam at the helm as Chairperson until his untimely death in 2014. It was at this time that the club decided to rename the Annual Garden of Ireland Run to The Liam Kelly Memorial Garden of Ireland Run in honour of his memory and to coincide with this, his family presented a magnificent perpetual cup which is now a very sought after trophy for the ‘car of the run’. Liam was one of life’s great characters and now when his many friends converge on Wicklow for his memorial run, many stories and anecdotes are relayed. We feel that Liam would be extremely proud of how the club has progressed and we look forward to continuing the great work that he and his fellow members started.
